Apply Social Insurance Number (SIN)

Social Insurance Number (SIN) is an important document, that you need to work in Canada or to have access to government programs and benefits.

A SIN is issued to one person only and it cannot legally be used by anyone else. Service Canada is now issuing SINs in paper format (confirmation of SIN letter). Production of the plastic SIN card has stopped.

Apply Health Card in Saskatchewan

You must have a Saskatchewan Health Services Card, also known as "Health Card or HSN" to receive any Health Care in Saskatchewan or you will have to pay for the services. 

According to eHealth Saskatchewan "All new Saskatchewan residents must register themselves and their dependants for a Saskatchewan health services card in order to be eligible for health benefits. 

New Saskatchewan residents are people who have relocated to Saskatchewan from another Canadian province/territory or from outside Canada, such as foreign nationals, international students and returning Canadians. 

You may complete the application for yourself, your spouse/partner and all dependants under 18 years old living with you in Saskatchewan."

Before applying online or via mail, each adult included on the application must include copies (front & back if applicable) of documents proving: 

  • Legal Entitlement to be in Canada 
  • Saskatchewan Residency
  • Support of Identity

Proof of Saskatchewan Residency: Newcomers in Regina may not have proof of residency right away, in that case your friend or the family your living with may certify your saskatchewan residency. This form has to be filled in by a saskatchewan resident with a vaild health card. Click Here to obtain the form and attach this later in the application.

Each dependant must provide documents proving: 

  • Legal Entitlement to be in Canada
  • Support of Identity

Electronic copies of your documents may be obtained by scanning or by taking digital pictures of your documents. Be sure that any numbers that appear on your documents are readable. 

To apply for Health Card you have two options

  1. Apply Online (Recommended and Quicker)
  2. Apply via Mail or in Person

Apply Online

  1. You must first sign up for Saskatchewan Health Services Card portal on eHealth Saskatchewan website i.e https://www.ehealthsask.ca/residents/health-cards​
  2. Start your online application
  3. Once you have an account username and password, navigate to https://skhealthcard.health.gov.sk.ca and sign in. 
  4. The new window will appear with few options. If you are new resident in Saskatchewan the first section of the page applies to you. 
  5. Read the information displayed and Click "Start New Application".
  6. You will be provided a reference number along with the form. Complete all the requested information and attach the supporting documents. 
  7. At the end, you will be provided the reference number and a confirmation message. 
  8. Your new Health Card will be mailed out to you shortly if all is in order otherwise eHealth Saskatchewan will contact you for more information or supporting document. 
  9. To avoid the delay, attach all the documents requested.

Apply via Mail or in Person

  1. Print and complete your Saskatchewan Health Services Card Application form and attach your supporting documentation. The form is also available in Health Registries, eHealth Saskatchewan office.
  2. Mail or Drop the document to :
