Regina, SK — On August 23rd, 2025, the Nepali Society of Saskatchewan (NepSoSS) hosted its eagerly awaited Teej celebration at Living Hope Alliance Church, drawing the local Nepali community together for an evening of cultural pride and joy. The event beautifully blended tradition, music, and dance, offering an unforgettable experience for all who attended.
The venue was transformed with vibrant red and green decorations, setting the tone for the festivities. Guests arrived in traditional saris, colorful churis, and hands adorned with intricate henna designs, reflecting the spirit of the Teej festival.
The evening began with an impressive performance of "Teeja Ko Rahara," followed by several standout acts, including the Teeja Mashup performances by the Panchakanya Group and Girl's Gang, which energized the audience and showcased the months of preparation by the performers. The performances perfectly captured the essence of Teej, blending folk traditions with contemporary energy.
Key moments of the evening included an inauguration ceremony led by respected seniors, including Tej Narayan Paudel, Bishnu Tiwari, Dr. Achyut Sharan Aryal, and Jhabindra Kafle, as well as the Land Acknowledgment by Sujata Subedi-Lash and welcoming remarks from Dr. Ram Sapkota, President of NepSoSS, and Rajendra Kumar Acharya, Senior's Representative. These moments highlighted the importance of community and cultural heritage.
Emcees Jenisha Humagain and Anushree Tiwari expertly guided the evening, ensuring smooth transitions between performances and keeping the audience engaged with their lively, welcoming presence.
At 6:30 PM, food was served, catered to perfection, offering a variety of delicious dishes that reflected the authentic flavors of home.
