Bill C-6, an Act to amend the Citizenship Act and make consequential amendments to another Act, received Royal Assent on June 19, 2017, which means it’s now a law. Not all the changes take place immediately, some changes expected to take effect in fall 2017 and early 2018. This change is expected to be beneficial to thousands of immigrants to Canada. Under the new legislation, permanent residents of Canada may apply for citizenship sooner than previously.

The Canadian Anti-Spam Law (CASL) came into force in 2014, it included a 3-year transition period that allowed organizations like NepSoSS to rely on deemed implied consent for sending commercial electronic messages (CEMs) such as emails, texts. That transition period, and the implied consent, expires on July 1, 2017. This means that NepSoSS can no longer rely on this implied consent, and will have to remove recipients from our mailing lists by July 1, 2017 or get a new consent. This change will not affect active General Members because their membership is renewed every year, which also results in getting their consent.

NepSoSS being RMC member organization, is calling out all eligible youths to take part in this exciting opportunity.

Each year the youth of Regina's multicultural community contribute their time, talents and energy to making multiculturalism thrive in our city. As part of RMC’s mandate of promoting multiculturalism through cooperation and mutual understanding among all cultural and ethnic groups in Regina, the Regina Multicultural Council is proud to recognize the outstanding achievements of these youth by offering the Continuing Education Scholarships.
